A few excerpts from the speech of Mr. Ramarajan & Mr. Raghu during the launch of E-Cell @ LIBA.

The inauguration of The LIBA "Entrepreneurship-Cell" or the "E-Cell "as it has been christened, was deemed by the presence of one of the greatest entrepreneurs Mr. Ramaraj, the founder of SIFY. Currently Mr.Ramaraj is associated on a part time basis, as a Venture partner/mentor at Sequoia Capital and is a member of the global Board of Trustees of TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs).

Mr.Ramaraj graced the occasion by giving a very thoughtful speech on how ordinary people became awe-inspiring entrepreneurs using their brilliant ideas at right time. His company started as an Internet Service Company which was listed in NASDAQ. The market cap rose from $360 million to $11 billion in 4 months. How could he achieve it? What he saw was Opportunity and not Scarcity. He grabbed the momentum of the booming Internet Industry and positioned SIFY at the top of the list. During any setback, it was important for any company to show resilience and survive the recession instead of planning for future. All those companies which focused on surviving the recession are very successful today. He explained about five important factors which may bring about a dramatic change in the scenario:

1) Regulation

2) Government Impact
3) Technology
4) Competition
5) Globalization.

His examples of Companies which make use of the prevalent opportunities: Li & Fung Limited is a global trading group supplying high-volume, time-sensitive consumer goods. Garments make up a large part of the Li & Fung business which also covers the sourcing of physical goods such as fashion accessories, furnishings, gifts, handicrafts, home products, promotional merchandise, toys, sporting goods and travel goods. As a Supply Chain Manager across many producers and countries, Li & Fung provides product design and development, raw material and factory sourcing, production planning and management, quality assurance and export documentation to shipping consolidation. Headquartered at Hong Kong, all they do is trading through several countries and not manufacturing. Their annual turnover is $12 billion.

Virgin Mobile makes its fortune by the concept of MVNO. A mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) is a company that provides mobile phone service but does not have its own licensed frequency allocation of radio spectrum, nor does it necessarily have the entire infrastructure required to provide mobile telephone service.

Flipkart.com whose business increases by 100% every month. eShakti.com which makes distinctive designer clothes for women. They offer custom-size as well as standard-size. And their custom-styling option makes it truly unique. Above all, the one quality he felt that was necessary for any company is to quickly adapt to the changes in the environment.

‘Plans are not made in Concrete’ What was missing? The quality he found that was missing in most entrepreneurs is the Stamina to see their companies in the next decade or beyond. What makes us work was the passion and stamina that comes from within and not the incentives we might get out of the work.

Three Mantras for success -
1) Create Social Impact

2) Create wealth and Share Wealth
3) Finally, Have fun!

Followed by Mr.Ramaraj’s speech was talk of another esteemed member of TIE, Mr. Raghu Rajagopal, who is Secretary of the Chennai Chapter of TIE. He has accepted to be the Mentor and Guide of LIBA E-Cell. Mr.Raghu Rajagopal gave a gist of various events that will be conducted by LIBA E-Cell in association with TiE, Chennai chapter. .

The Adrenaline Rushes…. LIBA E-CELL Takes Off

"There are people who put their dreams in a little box and say, "Yes, I've got dreams, of course I've got dreams." Then they put the box away and bring it out once in awhile to look in it, and yep, they're still there. These are great dreams, but they never even get out of the box. It takes an uncommon amount of guts to put your dreams on the line, to hold them up and say, "How good or how bad am I?" That's where courage comes in." We the young entrepreneurs at LIBA believe in our Dreams, believe in our courage and most importantly we believe in ourselves. And Yes we have the guts to look upon our dreams and put them on the line. Every long journey starts with a First step and that step has been put into action by the young, energetic, dedicated, courageous and ambitious students of LIBA.

Today LIBA observed the successful official launch of ‘Entrepreneurship–Cell’ and it was magnanimous. The chief guest for this event was Mr. Raghu, CEO, Energeate, Secretary TIE Chennai and Chief Mentor of ‘E-Cell’. ‘E-Cell’ launch was also blessed by the presence of Mr. Ramaraj, Rev. Fr. Christie, Director of LIBA, Mr. Gowrisankar, Dean of LIBA and Prof. J K. The auditorium was filled with almost 250 students, all first year and second year students. The official Launch was followed by a small motivational speech by Mr. Raghu which ignited the minds of each and everyone present in the hall.

The journey from the conceptualization of idea of forming an “E-Cell” for all the budding entrepreneurs of LIBA to its successful launch, which was the most awaited moment for all ‘E-Cell’ members, was adventurous, breathtaking and a great learning process.

The ‘E-Cell’ has lot of plans in pipeline in order to develop and cultivate the entrepreneurial skills of students which includes some On-Campus and Off-Campus activities.

Stay Tuned to “E-Cell” blog, we will come up very soon with more information about the activities being planned by “E-Cell”.

A new Dawn! A new Rising! A new Awakening!

“You have to dream before your dreams come true.”
-by Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam.

We the young aspirant entrepreneurs at LIBA believe that if you chase your ‘Dream’, if you have the courage to ‘Dare’ we will make you ‘Deliver’. If you are the one who wants to do things differently, who wants to stand out of the crowd, who has the desire to make your dream come true then this is the place for you.
Today students witnessed the pre-launch of an ‘Entrepreneurship -Cell’ @ LIBA, a new chapter in the glorious history of LIBA. A bunch of students who want to be future entrepreneurs gathered together and started an ‘E-Cell’ in order to promote the idea of entrepreneurship and help the budding entrepreneurs to achieve their goals. This cell started in collaboration with TIE, A non-profit global network of entrepreneurs and professionals, established to foster entrepreneurship and nurture entrepreneurs. Today the first General Body Meeting was held and 15 students attended the meeting. The main agenda of the meeting was to give the new joiners the notion behind the starting of an ‘E-Cell’, what are the activities going to be held under this umbrella and the road map for the coming months.
Thursday, the 13th will see the official launch of the ‘E-Cell’ @ LIBA. The Chief Guest for the same is (please put his name and designation)
Keep watching for this space for more updates. There is lot more to come. Till then ‘Dare to Dream’.
“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.”
